Klamath River with O.A.R.S.

This summer my son Austin and I had the pleasure of joining O.A R.S on a Klamath River rafting trip. The Klamath RiverĀ  run 263 mile through southern Oregon, and northwest California. Our O.A.R.S. trip covered about 25 river miles, and three nights, centered in the Happy Camp region, California. This was Austins first over-night camping trip, and of course his first extended rafting trip.

This was the trip of a life time for the kids, (parents too). The backdrop provided an environment for instant friendships.

Friendship was easy for the kids, nine years old, rafting with O.A.R.S.

Friends!

While the Klamath is rated Class II, to a nine year old they where huge.

The Klamath River Valley is remote. The rivere is lined with both evergreens and hardwoods. We saw countless Ospreys, and Bald Eagles. More then once bears where seen on the shore.

I have been on hundreds of rafting trips across the continent, I feel this was one of the best. The kids, and parents loved this trip. The pace allowed the parents time to relax and the kids tons of adventure. Next season I am making plans to be on the Lower Salmon of Idaho. This too, is a great family trip. A few days longer, a few more days of fun! See you there!
